Summer Ghost (with Making of)
Loundraw, 2021 (74m)

Tomoya, Aoi and Ryo are three high schoolers who meet online, brought together by their shared interest in a particular urban legend. The legend speaks of the ghost of a young woman, who appears when fireworks are set off. The three teenagers each have their own reason for wanting to meet the ‘summer ghost’. They come together one summer night, and light their fireworks in the hopes of finding out whether the urban legend is real. Summer Ghost is the directorial debut of Loundraw, who started illustrating commercially while he was still a teenager. His first theatrical release is a real achievement - a poignant story that leaps off the screen thanks to beautiful animation and careful, elegant storytelling. It’s a film that works brilliantly on its own terms, while also marking the arrival of a major new talent on the anime scene. (Accompanied with recorded Making of Q&A).
