The Curse
Kenichi Ugana, 2025 (95m)
When Riko spots some odd, disturbing online posts from her Taiwanese friend Shufen, she attempts to intervene. She’s shocked to discover her friend actually died in mysterious, violent circumstances several months earlier. Determined to find out what happened and why Shufen’s social media feeds are still active, Riko starts her own investigation. It isn’t long before strange, supernatural events soon start plaguing Riko and those around her… A playful homage to J-horror films such as Ringu and Ju-On from director Kenichi Ugana (Love Will Tear Us Apart, JFF24), The Curse updates the classic formula for the social media age. With some suitably gnarly scares and a darkly humorous streak, this is one fans of Japanese horror cinema won’t want to miss.
